About temp-mail.zone
temp-mail.zone is a free email inbox you can keep. You get an address in one click, without a sign-up form, a password or a phone number, and you can come back to it whenever you like.
Why we built it
Free email has quietly become less free. Most providers now want a phone number before they will open an account, and throwaway inbox sites delete your messages just when you need them, when the password reset, the receipt or the "confirm it's you" email finally arrives.
We wanted something in between: an address that is quick to get and asks for nothing, but that is still there next week.
How it works
Every address lives on one of our mail domains, which are ordinary-looking domains that do nothing except receive mail for temp-mail.zone. When a message arrives, our mail server stores it, cleans it for safe display and shows it in the inbox for that address. If the message contains a verification code, we pick the code out and show it at the top.
Messages are stored encrypted on our servers and backed up, so they do not disappear when a server is restarted or replaced.
What we don't do
- We do not ask who you are.
- We do not send email, so your address cannot be used to send spam through us.
- We do not sell or rent addresses or messages.
- We do not run third-party ad scripts. Where a banner appears, it is an image and a link we placed ourselves, clearly labelled.
What it costs, and how that works
Nothing, and there is no paid tier waiting behind a wall. Running the service costs money — domains, a server, storage that grows every month because nothing is deleted — and that is covered by clearly-labelled banner space, not by charging for the inbox and not by anything to do with your mail.
That matters for a practical reason: a service funded by your data has a reason to keep more of it. This one does not. There is no account, no profile and nothing to enrich.
The two limits, in plain words
Every service should be able to state where it does not fit. Ours:
- You cannot send. Addresses here receive only. It is what keeps our mail domains from being used for spam, and therefore what keeps mail arriving for everyone else. See why sending is impossible.
- The address is the key. No password, no second factor: anyone who has the address can open the inbox. Use it for sign-ups, codes and newsletters — not for banking, medical, legal or work mail. See what this site stores.
Who this is for
People who want a working address without an interrogation: someone downloading a file behind an email wall, testing a product before committing, keeping newsletters out of a personal inbox, or signing up to a forum they may never return to. It is also used by a small team to create addresses in bulk for their own work, which is why the site is built to keep mail for years rather than minutes.
